What is KYBELLA™?
KYBELLA™ is a new nonsurgical treatment for submental fullness, sometimes referred to as “double chin”. It is a prescription medicine used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called “double chin.” Each treatment session with KYBELLA™ is typically 15 to 20 minutes, given right here in our office.
How it works:
KYBELLA™ is the first and only FDA-approved injectable drug that contours and improves the appearance of submental fullness. When injected into subcutaneous fat, KYBELLA™ causes the destruction of fat cells and once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat.
Treatment with KYBELLA™ is customized by the physician to the patient’s aesthetic goals for an improved chin profile. Once the aesthetic response is achieved with KYBELLA™, re-treatment is not expected. The active ingredient in KYBELLA™ is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath your chin, KYBELLA™ causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat.
Why KYBELLA™?
YBELLA™ may be right for you if you are bothered by submental fullness, Surgery is not an option for you, or you feel the condition makes you look older or heavier than you actually are. You eat well and exercise, but submental fullness does not go away. For most patients, downtime was minimal and occurred most commonly after the first treatment session.
